Trailblazing: Build Your Own Path (and Mix)

First-generation students are true trailblazers, forging their own paths in their families. Students are invited to create an edible trail mix that symbolizes their journey! They will build their mix in front of the Student Services Building II, where they can connect with fellow students and share the unique challenges and triumphs of shaping their future as first-gen pioneers.

No RSVP necessary. Just stop by our table in front of Student Services II!

This event will be co-presented by the Transfer Student Center and the Division of Career Pathways. All UCI transfer students welcomed!

Are the feelings of imposter syndrome creeping up amidst midterms? Join SSI for a presentation by the Counseling Center on combating imposter syndrome in undergrad.

This is a special collaboration event with the First-Gen Programs and Anteater Success Resource (ASR), in celebration of the First-Gen Celebration Week events. National First-Gen Day is on November 8th! UCI First-Gen Programs hosts a week-long celebration between November 3-7th.

First-Gen Talk: Dr. Angela Lukowski

Join us to hear Dr. Lukowski share her first-gen story and path in becoming the Associate Professor of Psychological Science she is today! 

Professor Lukowski has been a proud member of the UC Irvine community since Fall of 2008, when she was hired as an Assistant Professor of Psychological Science. She was promoted to Associate Professor in 2016. In addition to her work as a faculty member, Professor Lukowski has devoted herself to serving UC Irvine’s undergraduate student body in roles such as Vice Chair of Psychological Science, where she worked to set and refine the undergraduate curriculum. She has also served on the UC Irvine Committee on Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools (CUARS), is currently a member of the Council on Educational Policy (CEP) – and she is the Faculty Advisor of the UC Irvine First-Generation Faculty Initiative!

Participants who attend will be entered in an opportunity drawing for cool first-gen swag!

You are invited to attend First-Gen Day Celebration hosted by Student Success Initiatives (SSI). Join us to celebrate first-gen students, faculty, and staff at UCI. The event will feature music, live performances, a photo booth, a resource fair, and giveaways.

Are you a current or former first-gen student? We invite all students, staff, and faculty who identify as first-gen college students/graduates to join us for a casual community mixer. Decorate your own canvas pouch while listening to tunes.
